The couple are thought to be marrying in a small civil ceremony today with a large scale Scientology ceremony at Castello Odescalchi in Bracciano tomorrow. Tom and Katie carried seven month old daughter Suri to the dinner at the Nino restaurant in the city centre, with friends such as Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony, and Jim Carrey with girlfriend Jenny McCarthy. Katie's Armani outfit coordinated with Suri's clothes and Tom's daughter Isabella's dress while Tom himself wore a black Armani suit. Katie's mum and dad, previously rumoured to be boycotting the wedding, were also in attendance. A waiter at the restaurant revealed: "Tom and Katie went from table to table saying hello to everyone.

Same-sex marriage foes to hold rally

BOSTON -- Opponents of same-sex marriage will join Gov. Mitt Romney at a Statehouse rally tomorrow to pressure lawmakers to allow the public to vote on a ballot measure banning gay marriage. Romney and gay-marriage foes said they are still outraged that legislators avoided voting on the proposal last week. "Gov. Romney is deeply concerned that our rights and freedoms are in danger. The people have a right to participate in their government and by avoiding the constitutionally required vote on marriage, the Legislature has effectively repealed our constitution," said Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom. Residents collected 170,000 signatures to put a question defining marriage as only between a man and a woman on the 2008 ballot. "We want to keep visibility on this issue," said Kris Mineau, president of the Massachusetts Family Institution.

BOSTON — Thursday, Nov. 9, seemed like a faraway day back in July, when legislators agreed to postpone a controversial vote on whether to put same-sex marriage on the ballot. But now, with the flip of the calendar page less than a week away, all 200 legislators are scheduled to assemble as a body in the House of Representatives' chamber to call the joint constitutional convention to order. The question is whether legislators will decide to take a definitive stance one way or the other. Since the Supreme Judicial Court legalized same-sex marriage in Massachusetts in 2003, the state has seen many gay and lesbian couples tie the knot while supporters and protesters looked on. Some opponents called for a ballot vote on whether an amendment should be added to the constitution banning same-sex marriage.
